My hell and heaven!!

Do you really think that hell and heaven are two different worlds where we go after death?? Where hell’s officers fry us in big cauldrons filled with hot oil and flog us as punishments whereas in heaven we are welcomed with garlands and flowers and receive all sort of luxuries of life! (wait a minute! did I just say “of life”? really? then why is it called afterlife??)

Well, if you ask me, I find this funny, don’t you?

Okay, let me tell you why.

Let’s just think for a while, what if we already are in hell or heaven and we never realized this? There are different theories of after life in each and every religion. Some say we go to hell or heaven as per our karmic accounts and some say we are reborn as humans or some other species on earth to reap what we sowed in our past lives. Well, which theory to believe in we do not know, but we all do definitely feel one thing once in our lives during our good or bad times, when bad thing happens we question the supreme, “why is this happening to me when I didn’t do anything bad to anyone? I have been a good person throughout my life!” and when something good happens, we thank our god and say, “I might have done something good to receive this blessing”.

In both the cases, when we do not know what exactly we did (good/bad it may be) to deserve this sort of thing in our lives, an elderly or a wise person suddenly comes into the picture and tells us, “this is the result of your own karma that you have performed throughout the journey of your soul” which brings us back to the question if this is all I am reaping that I sowed in my past lives then where did the hell/ heaven stage go? According to the hell/heaven theory, we must have received the punishments and the rewards for our wrong-doings and right-doings before arriving back to this earth and our karmic accounts must have become pure and like clean-slates again and there should be no backlogs. And, if that is true, then what explains our sufferings and our surprises in this life? Well, I do not have the answer to that. To which, I like to believe, this is the only place which we know of and have experienced truly which certainly is hell for some and heaven for some others!
